I couldn't help but sing to myself "don't be suspicious" from parks and rec as I got into position. This proposal was set up as close to a surprise as we could do. I am dear friends with Alec and Kathleen, and we knew that if I was spotted, it was all over. So we set a plan...
Kathleen knows I am a teacher and the hours I work, so we made sure to set the proposal during my work hours and I used a personal day to sneak to Orlando. There I hid inside a castle like structure while they went through the "ice" show like they do every year. I lied in wait until they came around the corner, and then the moment came. He got down on one knee and popped the question. The crowd around them paused, gasped, and awwed, even taking out their phones to capture the moment. Some came forward and offered the photos to them after, which then got Alec laughing as he pointed me out in my hiding spot. When everyone, including Kathleen, spotted me, they all burst out laughing. My hiding was a success.
We then had a fun time having a little mini photoshoot around the Opry and then later did an engagement shoot at the river, but that's a story for later....
