Wooosh!

Gasps filled the air, as yet another plane made a daring stunt in front on our eyes. The air show was on the move and our eyes were glued to the skies. I was lucky enough to attend the air show at Orlando Sandford airport. Fir this show we got to drive onto the tarmac and park under the air traffic control tower. We were instructed to sit and actually found a good spot right up against the grass, with only one row of people in front of us. The show began and every moment was breathtaking.

Stunt performers were taking their planes through loops, spins, and daring climbs and free falls. Coast guard came out and preformed a mock rescue, and cyber trucks were raced against fighter jets. All the while, we would take pauses every so often to let flights to Minneapolis and miami take off. It was quite hilarious as the announcers would tell us of the pause, give us the flight and crew information of the plane taking off, and then everyone in the crowd would wave and scream at the plane and cheer for the commercial flight as the passengers waved from the windows.

My favorite parts of the day though, were the F22 raptor and the blue angels. It has been years since I had seen them in action, and I had been eager to photograph them again. The speed, control, and maneuverability of these crews are amazing. They get within inches of each other at high speeds, preform amazing stunts, sneak attacks from behind that no one was ready for, and appear to hover in mid air. It was so much fun to photograph and experience first hand, I found so much joy indulging in this fun opportunity.

Sadly this year, in fact this weekend, they are in cocoa beach. However I am away on vacation, so I'm sadly not able to see them this year. But who knows, maybe I will get to capture something even cooler in the year ahead at the next Sandford show.
