Hero with a Heart

I love when friends trust me to showcase a side of them that not everyone has seen yet. Daniel has been my friend for several years, and when I approached him about a photoshoot, he was eager and excited to jump all in. However, he let me know of a desire he had but was uncertain if I would go for it. Once he told me what he wanted, I knew the perfect location for this photoshoot. Daniel for years has cosplayed as captain America for relay for life and other events, bringing joy to kids to hope to those in tiring situations. He started it back when he was in college, and has been doing this for many years since. He is even in the process of starting a non-profit called Heroes Chasing Hope. With this request and my knowledge of Daniel's personality- I knew the perfect location for his photoshoot.

We went down to one of my favorite parks that has a massive American Flag on the river. We had a blast hanging out and capturing some new photos for Daniel that show off his personality. He was of course in love with the flag being there, so we got some great photos with it, as well as the riverfront and the bridge over the water. After a time we switched over to the Captain America suit, and began planning deliberate poses to move from a standard portrait photoshoot, to a hero with a lot of heart. I began teaching Daniel and showing him different tips and tricks of subtle things he can do with posing to come off more like hoe movie posters pose heroes. Simple tricks that he could use with kiddos when doing events. And shortly after this photoshoot, he did use these tips when doing an event called Foster Parent's Night Out, and I got a call a couple weeks later about joining the team to build this nonprofit and being joy and hope to kiddos through superheroes. I'm sure I'll share more about it in the future, but I am so excited to see how a photoshoot with a friend has already led to spreading so much joy in the community. Daniel truly is a hero with a heart, and I am so blessed that he trusted me with this side of himself.
