A writer and a photographer walk into the woods...
My best friend Emily Warner is a writer and has been expanding her freelancing work over the past year. She has published poems and articles about various topics, and this one was one close to her heart exploring how her perspective and relationship to her favorite story and characters has changed over the years. The power that one book can hold. If you want to read the article- the magazine is called "Oh Reader" and her article is Walking in my Dreams.
Something special about this particular opportunity, is that Emily was offered to provide her own photos for the article and photographer credit. Right away Emily asked me, and we knew we were going to have a blast! We had the perfect location that truly feels magical, and like we are stepping into a fairytale. Leaves bigger than half our body, vines wrapping around trees reaching for a breath of sunlight, sand paths leading to unknowns around the corner. Every time I step into this place, I feel like anything could happen, a dinosaur jumps from the leaves, a lion calling us to battle, or a wizard taking me on an adventure. So of course this was the perfect location for the article.
We had a blast taking photos and planning the best shots for her article, and now I can finally reveal that it is published! It is in digital form at the link here or in person at Barnes and Nobel. It was so surreal to see my photos in a published book. To know that Emily and I finally accomplished something we've talk about for a long time, her writing and my photos going together in a book. We have big ideas and plans for the future, but it's so exciting to see this first step.
